Everybody knows that the most important thing for every driver is his own safety, the safety of the drivers around him, and of course the safety of the pedestrians. However from one or another reason many people don’t respect this imperative, drive too fast, don’t respect traffic signs, don’t respect other participants in traffic, and are cause for many terrible accidents.
This is true for the truck drivers also, many of them react like they are in some truck games, and the damage that they could cause can be really big. Here are some basic rules for the truck drivers that
should contribute for enhancing road safety.
The driver is definitely the most important part of a moving truck. He must take a rest before he starts driving, must eat well and stay fit or in other case he should change his job.
The vehicle must be in a great shape too. Driver should inspect his truck before every trip. He should know how to inspect his brakes and identify safety defects. Going to auto mechanic is also a good
thing; the vehicle must should be repaired before risking on the highway.
Seat belt is still one of the main things that guarantee your safety. That way you will stay on your seat and you could maintain control of your truck, if you are in a crash. Many accidents cause
ejecting from the vehicle, and wearing seat belts, is still the most effective thing to save lives and reduce injures.
No-Zone are called the danger areas, or the blind spots, around trucks and buses. Actually one third of all crashes between large trucks and cars take place in this zone. Other drivers may not be aware
of these blind spots so the truck driver must be doubly careful from the others.
It’s good to know that two-thirds of all traffic fatalities are caused by aggressive driving behaviours. Be calm when you are behind the wheel, maintain a safe speed and be aware that it’s better to get
at your destination few minutes later than never.
Leaving enough space between you and the vehicle in front of you is also very important. The one that hits someone from behind is typically considered "at fault". Truck driver should also be aware that
large trucks require more stopping distances than other vehicles.
Maybe it seams that these rules are not something new but is always good to remind of them.
